The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan has challenged civil servants to produce tangible results from their endeavours so as to develop the country. She gave the charge at a-one-day retreat on Performance Management System (PMS) organised for the Directorate cadre of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Abuja.
Dr. Yemi-Esan reiterated that the New Performance Management System which is to replace the old Annual Performance Evaluation Records (APER) was instituted so as to bring out high performance in civil servants and ensure recognition of high performance in the scheme of things.
She urged participants to begin to value themselves and cultivate high self- esteem. She praised her staff for their hardwork, adding that the country cannot move forward if the civil service remains static. She therefore called on the participants to champion the New Performance Management System for the good of the service.
Earlier in his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Common Services Office, Alh. Ibrahim Yusufu said that the Performance Management System is the sixth priority area of the Federal Civil Service Strategies and Implementation Plan 2025 (FCSSIP25). He said the documents for its implementation have already been developed.
The retreat consisted of a general overview of FCSSIP25 and departmental review of Key Performance Objectives while Key Performance Indicators In all twenty-two departments were presented , criticised and eventually adopted.
