The leader of Afenifere and Asiwaju Yoruba, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, despatched a highpowered delegation of Afenifere chieftains to honour Chief Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, second elected Governor of Kwara State, who was buried on Saturday October 11, 2025, at Oke Onigbin, Kwara State.
Governor Adebayo, a 2nd Republic Senator, was chairman of Afenifere Political Committee. He was a founding member of the opposition National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, during the military era, and spent many years in exile as a result of his political activities. He was also a minister in the cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was a stabilising influence in the activities of Afenifere and was much respected for his wisdom and selfless service.
