HoCSF Yemi-Esan commended for approving Sensitisation Workshop on Revised 2021 Public Service Rules

The Director, Organisation Design and Development( ODD), Service Policies and Strategy( SPSO) Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHoCSF), Mimi Abu, has given kudos to the HoCSF, Dr (Mrs) Folasade Yemi-Esan.

Mimi Abu on Wednesday commended the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for approving the Sensitisation Workshop on the Revised 2021 Public Service Rules.

Speaking in her welcome remarks at the workshop, she expressed “profound gratitude to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Mrs. Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR for approving this sensitisation workshop and the Permanent Secretary, SPSO Dr Deborah O.N. Odoh for bringing this programme to a reality.”

The Director reminded participants that “Public Service Rule is expected to be reviewed every five (5) years to keep update with Government policies,” noting that “The process of reviewing the 2008 PSR started in 2014 at Lokoja, Kogi State with the inauguration of a technical team and this was followed by series of meetings and stakeholder engagement.”

She recalled that “The reviewed Public Service Rule (PSR) which was endorsed by the National Council on establishment at the 42nd meeting and approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on May 2021 came into effect on 27th July 2023 after gazetting and this workshop is organised for us to familiarise ourselves with it.”

She said “It is expected that this workshop will provide updates as they guide colleagues through todays engagement in order to be acquainted with the revised PSR and implement the reviewed rules for the benefit of the service and Nation at large.”

The Director said “The objective of this workshop is to sensitise public servants and other stakeholders on the revised 2021 Public Service Rule (PSR) which came into effect on 27th July 2023.”

She stated that “The 2008 PSR was reviewed to meet current realities and some of the new additions are expected to be part of our deliberation in the course of this workshop. It is expected that this workshop will;

          i.        Provide updates on further revisions and amendments to the PSR.

          ii.       Strengthen the understanding of the recent reviews on the PSR.

         iii.       Provide practical guidance on how to interpret and apply the revised rules effectively in daily work scenarios.

          iv.       Enhance participants awareness of the recent reviews.

          v.        Facilitate discussions and interactive sessions to clarify any misconception and address common challenges faced in adhering to the PSR and

           vi.     Encourage networking and collaboration among participants to share best practices and lessons learned in implementing the revised PSR.”

She thereafter implored participants “to passionately listen to our facilitators on the various new inputs to the 2021 PSR in order to be acquainted with the new Rule and implement the reviewed rules for the benefit of the Service and Nation at large.”
