Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun, Shattiman Sakkwato) has called on the Ulama to intensify on the campaign for peace and good conduct of citizens in the society.
He made the call when he received in audience, a reknown Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa Kano in his office on Saturday evening. The Sheikh was in Zamfara State as part of his repeated visit for advocacy and special prayers for peace.
Governor Matawalle said that Zamfara state is being faced with multitudes of problems bordering on security which his administration is facing head-on and needs the support of everyone to deal with.
He revealed that the depth of behavioural rot in the society is better imagined with the kind of discoveries he has made over time which, invariably, compound the security problems in the state.
“It is here in Zamfara state that we arrested a person who feasts on human parts and also sells same to ritualists within and outside the state. We have so far arrested no fewer than 13 persons linked to this heinous business”, Governor Matawalle revealed.
Earlier, Sheikh Daurawa, who was received by the Governor supported by the state Council of Ulama, commended Governor Matawalle for his pragmatic actions against bandity and other forms of security breaches in the state.
He advised Muslims in the state to imbibe the Islamic teachings of easing hardship which are to always affirm the purity and unity of God, repentance of old bad ways and being of help to the needy.
He intimated Governor Matawalle on the efforts he and his colleagues are currently doing to assist in the use of modern technology to help spread Islamic teachings to the grassroots as a means of reversing the effect of ignorance which is the main fertilising ingredient of social vices.
