Get skills, don’t rely on certificates, Provost calls on FCE Zaria students

The Provost of Federal College Education, Zaria, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe has today called on students of the College to engage in skills acquisition programmes and not to rely on getting certificates only. According to him, the 2 are needed, for students to have a happy and productive life, during and after their studies.

He made this call at the closing ceremony of the Free Makeup Training Programme for female students of the College that he attended at Dr. A. A Ladan Hall.

The programme which was organized by the Students’ Representatives Council of the College, under the office of the Secretary General, Zara’u Isa Lawal (CEO Zashtouch), trained more than 100 female students across all levels in the College.

In his remarks, the Provost revealed the efforts the Management of the College is making towards securing the building of a large and standardized skills acquisition center in the College. He further solicited that all relevant stakeholders should help in promoting entrepreneurship and skills acquisition programmes, so as to curtail the rate of unemployment among youths and students.

Instantaneously, the Provost magnanimously purchased and gifted makeup kits to 3 best students of the training.

The Provost also commended, particularly, the unrelenting efforts of the Secretary General in ensuring the actualization of the programme, and also called on the students’ union to bring more innovative programmes that will benefit their members.
