The Egbe Itesiwaju Yoruba has mourned the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

The group, in a message jointly signed by Agbaakin Tunde Adeleke, Worldwide President and Pa Tafa Olawuyi,
Secretary General said “It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that Ẹgbẹ́ Àgbà Ìtẹ̀síwájú Yorùbá mourns the passing of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, who joined his ancestors on Monday, 7 July 2025.

“The transition of Oba Olakulehin is not only a monumental loss to the ancient city of Ibadan, but to the entire Yorùbá nation, which he served with dignity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment. As a revered traditional ruler and an embodiment of Ọmọlúàbí virtues, Oba Olakulehin stood for peace, unity, and the socio-cultural advancement of our people.

“His reign, though brief, was marked by efforts to uphold the heritage and moral fabric of Ibadanland, and he remained a father to all, transcending political, religious, and social divides. His humility, simplicity, and dedication to service will be fondly remembered.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Olakulehin royal family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the Ibadan traditional institution, and indeed all sons and daughters of Ibadanland and Yorùbáland at large.

“As we mourn, let us also celebrate the life of a monarch who walked the path of honour and left a legacy of peace and dignity. May the Almighty console us all on the death of the highly referred Yoruba Ọba and guide the process of succession in peace and unity.

“Kabiyesi! O d’ìgbà o!”
