The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (MSSN Lagos), on Sunday, 15th June, 2026, inaugurated a new executive cabinet following its Annual Electoral Conference held over the weekend, June 13th–14th, 2026.
The conference, themed “Sovereignty and Stewardship: The Core of Nationhood,” culminated in the dissolution of the outgoing cabinet led by Mallam Kamoldeen Abiona and the announcement of a new leadership team to steer the affairs of the unit from 1448AH/2026 to 1450AH/2029.
Dr Ajibola Yusuf Salami, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Randle General Hospital, Surulere, and a graduate of Dentistry from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, emerges as the new Amir (President). He represents the Mushin Area Council and brings extensive experience from his time as Editor, Assistant Secretary, and Secretary of MSSN Mushin Area Council, as well as leadership roles within the medical community, including President of the Association of Resident Doctors, LASUTH, Ikeja.
The election process followed the inauguration of a 17-member Shurah (electoral) Committee on Friday, June 12th, chaired by Mallam Mutiu Adelu of Agege Area Council. The committee received nominations from 21 area councils, sorting through 36 nominees nominated for 16 available positions before arriving at its final decisions.

In his welcome speech, the newly inaugurated Amir, Dr Ajibola Yusuf Salami, paid tribute to the outgoing executives, stating that “they have kept the torch burning, and have set the bar high”, pledging that the new administration “will try to move the society forward.” He further appealed for the continued support of all members, saying, “We will need all the support, dua, and advice we can get”.
As the new executives settle into their roles, members, and stakeholders of MSSN Lagos State Area Unit have expressed optimism that the leadership transition will further strengthen the society’s mission across its area councils, with many looking forward to a tenure marked by unity, growth, and renewed commitment to the society’s ideals.
