The Centre for Leadership Advocacy and Good Governance and  Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, on Monday, 07 March 2022 staged a solidarity rally in front of the Federal Secretariat, II, in support of the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan and the on-going reform initiatives in the Federal Civil Service.

The leaders of the Coalition, Comrade Abdullahi Bilal and Ambassador Richard Augustine who spoke at the event said they were against the overbearing and unruly behaviour of some people being used as tools to disrupt the laudable initiatives geared towards reforming the Public Service.

They said it was evident that most people are not at ease with the reforms being carried out  in the service and are bent on fighting tooth and nail the transformation being championed by the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

They expressed solidarity with the positive transformation being spearheaded by the Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan in the public service. They urged her not to be distracted by the rantings of people who do not mean well for the country.

According to them, the Federal Civil Service is being enhanced as well as repositioned for effective and efficient service delivery. The major drivers of this reform policy are the Revised Public Service Rules (PSR) 2021, training and retaining, insurance cover, innovations, IPPIS (HR component), transition from an analogue to a digital workplace, amongst many others, they added.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting and encouraging  these reform initiatives, the Coalition said it will resist any attempt to return the Federal Civil Service to the days of redundancy.
