Boiling Point: Achudume, Funke Egbemode, Bajowa to Lead Expert Debate on Marriage Crisis Next Sunday

The highly anticipated May edition of the influential public discourse platform, Boiling Point Arena, is set to ignite another round of robust national conversation as three distinguished personalities have been unveiled to headline its next session focusing on the changing realities of marriage in modern society.

The event, scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 2026 by 8pm, will examine the timely theme: “Marriage in Modern Times: Love, Money, Loyalty and the Crisis of Commitment.”

Now entering its 43rd edition, the monthly programme will feature a formidable trio of discussants: renowned cleric, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, celebrated columnist and former President, Nigeria Guild of Editors, Funke Egbemode, as well as an accomplished lawyer and cultural icon, Princess Yemi Bajowa.

The programme is hosted by media professional and public relations strategist, Dr. Ayo Arowojolu, and will be transmitted live via Zoom while simultaneously airing on multiple radio stations across Lagos, Ogun and Delta States.

Organisers say the combination of a respected faith leader, an influential public commentator, and a successful professional woman is expected to bring rich, diverse and practical perspectives to one of society’s most contested institutions.

The event will be chaired by foremost monarch, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, who also serves as keynote speaker for the two-hour discourse.

The session comes at a time when public debate continues to grow over rising divorce rates, delayed marriages, changing gender roles, economic hardship, social media pressures, and what many describe as an erosion of loyalty and long-term commitment in relationships.

According to the organisers, the discourse will critically interrogate whether marriage is merely evolving with changing times or drifting into a deeper crisis of values.

With a rapidly expanding audience across Nigeria and in the diaspora, Boiling Point Arena has become one of the country’s most talked-about platforms for fearless but balanced engagement on politics, economy, governance, leadership and social issues.

Organisers noted that this month’s edition is expected to attract huge interest, especially among youths, singles, married couples, relationship counsellors and religious leaders eager to understand the shifting landscape of marriage.

Partner stations include WASH 94.9FM, Sweet 107.1FM, Roots 97.1FM, Erimbe 94.7FM, Women Radio 91.7FM, Opera Tune 106.3FM and Kruzz 92.9FM, alongside cable television station NSTV on GOtv Channel 316.

Over the years, Boiling Point Arena has hosted an impressive roll call of eminent Nigerians including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. Pat Utomi, Daniel Bwala, Prof. Toyin Falola, Prof. Wande Abimbola, Bishop Matthew Kukah, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, and Prof. Farooq Kperogi among others.

As public expectations build, the May edition promises to be another explosive, thought-provoking and solution-driven conversation on the future of family life in Nigeria and beyond.
