The Old Students’ Association of Community High School, Ahoro Esinele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies for their roles in securing the release of victims of the May 15, 2026 bandits’ attack on Ahoro Esinele and Yawota communities.
The association, in a statement signed by its chairman, Hafiz Taiwo Mustapha, said the successful rescue of the victims had brought immense relief, joy and renewed hope to the affected families and communities.
It commended President Tinubu for his leadership and support which, it said, facilitated the rescue operation, while also praising Governor Makinde for his commitment and concern throughout the period of the incident.
The old students also acknowledged the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun Corps, local vigilante groups, the Office of the National Security Adviser and other security personnel involved in the operation.
The association extended its appreciation to host communities, religious leaders, well-wishers and Nigerians who supported the affected families through prayers, encouragement and other forms of assistance.
It particularly rejoiced with the principal, teachers, students and pupils who were released and reunited with their families.
However, the association mourned those who lost their lives in the attack, describing their deaths as a painful reminder of the tragedy suffered by the communities.
It identified the deceased as Mr Joel Adesiyan, who was killed at the scene of the attack, and Mr Michael Oyedokun and Mr John Olaleye, who later died in captivity.
The group also honoured security personnel who lost their lives while participating in the rescue operations, praying that God would grant eternal rest to all the departed.
The association called for sustained collaboration among government, security agencies, community leaders and residents to strengthen security and prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
“Once again, we thank everyone who played one role or another in restoring freedom, hope and peace to the affected families and communities,” the statement said.
