Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has commiserated with the entire Muslim community of Oyo state over the death of Chief Rasheed Adesokan, the Baale of Bodija.
Professor Akande, in a statement in Ibadan, expressed shock over the unfortunate demise of a foremost Islamic leader in Yorubaland.
” I want to join other well meaning citizens of Oyo state to condole the family of Baale Adesokan and the entire Muslims in South West Nigeria on the demise of a frontline leader whose contributions to Islamic propagations and society at large were immeasurable and legendary.
“Baale Adesokan would be sorely missed in the Islamic circle. He devoted his resources for Islam and lived a good life worthy of emulation. “
“Alhaji Adesokan was a forthright religious leader who related with all with the fear of God and a sense of fairness. My relationship with him, which dated back to 1997 in the educational sector, gave me an insight into his forthrightness and love for the development of society. Baale Adesokan was one of the finest analysts of security issues in this clime, and it was always a delight learning from his insights drawn from his practical experience in the Armed Foeces and decades of extensive learning. There is no doubt that with his death,Nigeria has lost one of her most illustrious scholars in security matters.
“I pray Allah grant him Aljanah firdous and be with the family he left behind,” Professor Akande submitted.
