Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI and the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State, on Wednesday joined top APC stakeholders and members of the Presidential Campaign Council at the historic inauguration of the first multiparty presidential campaign council supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in 2027.
The event, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marked an unprecedented political alignment involving the APC, elements of a Rainbow Coalition, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
It brought together leaders from the ruling party and figures associated with other platforms in a show of broad-based support for the continuity of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate and chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, attended alongside the Director-General of the Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari (former Zamfara State governor); the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Senator Wadada, the APC governorship candidate for Nasarawa State; Hon. Abubakar Birchi, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations; and his own deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, among other party leaders and stakeholders.
Earlier in the day, Adeola attended to legislative duties at the National Assembly and held discussions with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and other colleagues, before proceeding to the State House for the inauguration.
The senator described the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council as a historic political development, highlighting the participation of prominent figures from within and outside the APC in a collective effort to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
He said the alignment further strengthens growing support for the President’s leadership and the continuation of his agenda beyond 2027.
The council is chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice chairmen.
Yari heads the body as Director-General, while other key roles are occupied by senior party and government figures.
The multiparty character of the council has been widely noted, with participation or representation linked to leaders such as Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo (APGA), Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party), and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike (associated with the Peoples Democratic Party), reflecting what party leaders have called a “rainbow coalition.”
Adeola’s presence underscores the mobilisation efforts within Ogun State, where the senator has repeatedly pledged strong delivery of votes for Tinubu while positioning himself as the APC’s standard-bearer to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027.
He has also been active in rallying electoral support for the Ogun State National and State Assemblies candidates of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
