The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) have held high-level discussions on measures to increase crude oil production and accelerate development activities under their joint venture (JV) partnership.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, received a delegation of executives from Chevron Nigeria Limited, led by the Chairman and Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, Mr. Jim Swartz, during a meeting in Abuja.
The discussions focused on strategies to raise production output from the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture, with particular emphasis on accelerating drilling and development activities required to unlock additional volumes.
The meeting also examined immediate actions and operational priorities that both partners would pursue to translate the production targets into tangible output increases in the near term.
The engagement comes amid ongoing efforts by NNPC Ltd. and its upstream partners to optimise existing assets, increase investment in oil and gas production and improve operational efficiency across the sector.
A major area of focus was the need to advance drilling programmes and other field development activities capable of supporting sustainable production growth. Both sides also discussed the steps required to strengthen collaboration and ensure that identified opportunities are moved from planning to execution.
The NNPC/CNL Joint Venture remains an important component of Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas operations, making efforts to boost production from its assets significant to the country’s broader objective of increasing crude oil output and strengthening energy-sector revenues.
The meeting underscores the commitment of NNPC Ltd. and Chevron to deepen their partnership and pursue practical measures to increase production while supporting the continued development of Nigeria’s petroleum resources.
The two parties are expected to continue engagements on the implementation of the agreed near-term measures and other initiatives aimed at delivering higher production volumes from the joint venture.
