The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, has congratulated veteran journalist and former Editor of The PUNCH, Alhaji Nojeem Jimoh, on his 74th birthday.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday, the Sultan described Jimoh as an accomplished journalist, distinguished media professional and elder statesman whose decades of dedicated service have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Nigeria’s media industry.
The Sultan commended the former PUNCH editor for his professionalism, courage, discipline and commitment to responsible journalism, noting that his career represents an enduring example of how the media can positively influence society through integrity, fairness and public-spirited service.
According to him, Jimoh’s contributions to journalism and public discourse have demonstrated the important role of the media in promoting peace, justice, accountability and national cohesion.
The Sultan particularly urged young and aspiring journalists to study and emulate the professional values, discipline and wealth of experience accumulated by Jimoh throughout his distinguished career.
He said the younger generation had much to learn from the veteran journalist’s commitment to ethical journalism and his contribution to the development of the profession.
The Sultan prayed Almighty Allah to continue to grant Jimoh good health, wisdom and strength, while wishing him many more years of fruitful service to humanity, journalism and the nation.
