PRESS RELEASE
Lagos, Tuesday, 04/08/2026
The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) heartily congratulates Professor Is-haq Oloyede, CON, OFR, on the successful completion of his distinguished tenure as Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Over the past decade, Prof. Oloyede’s leadership has transformed JAMB into one of Nigeria’s most respected public institutions. Through visionary reforms anchored on transparency, accountability, innovation and prudent financial management, he restored public confidence in the nation’s tertiary admissions process and established new standards for institutional excellence.
Under his stewardship, JAMB witnessed unprecedented improvements in the administration of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), strengthened the integrity of the Computer-Based Testing system, enhanced transparency in admissions through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), significantly curtailed examination malpractice through technology-driven reforms, and remitted record revenues to the Federal Government while maintaining operational efficiency. His achievements have become a benchmark for public sector leadership in Nigeria.
Beyond these accomplishments, Prof. Oloyede has demonstrated that integrity, competence and the values of justice, honesty and accountability can successfully guide public institutions. As a distinguished Muslim scholar and administrator, he has inspired millions of Nigerians by proving that ethical leadership and exceptional public service are complementary, not contradictory. Indeed, Prof. Oloyede’s conduct in office reflects the model of stewardship (amanah) taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who declared: “Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī). This Hadith establishes public office as a trust to be discharged with diligence and fear of God, not a privilege to be exploited. By anchoring his tenure on transparency and accountability, Prof. Oloyede exemplified this Prophetic ethic of leadership as service and answerability, offering a template that Muslim and non-Muslim public officers alike would do well to emulate.
MPAC commends Prof. Oloyede for his unwavering commitment to national development and institutional reform. His legacy will continue to inspire present and future leaders across the public service.
As Professor Segun Aina assumes office as the new Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, MPAC warmly congratulates him on his appointment and urges him to build upon the solid foundation established by his predecessor. We encourage Prof. Aina to preserve the gains recorded over the last decade while introducing innovative reforms that will further strengthen the credibility, efficiency and global competitiveness of JAMB.
Institutional progress is sustained through continuity, innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence. The remarkable reforms implemented over the past ten years should not only be preserved but expanded to ensure that Nigeria’s tertiary admissions system continues to serve millions of students with fairness, transparency and integrity.
MPAC expresses confidence that Prof. Aina possesses the experience and leadership capacity to consolidate on the achievements of Prof. Oloyede and lead JAMB into an even more impactful era of service. MPAC further calls on all elected officials and public servants across Nigeria’s institutions to draw lessons from this example- to serve the nation with sincerity, diligence and integrity, mindful always that beyond earthly commendation or scrutiny, every officer of state will ultimately stand before Allah (SWT) to account for how the trust reposed in them was discharged.
We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) accepts Prof. Oloyede’s years of dedicated service as an act of worship, grants him good health, abundant blessings and continued opportunities to contribute to national development. We also pray that Allah grants Prof. Segun Aina wisdom, strength and success as he begins this important national assignment.
