The Niger Delta Voices for Change (NDVC), a sociocultural group, has frowned at reports linking Endurance Amagbein, the former militant leader and the self-styled General, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
NDVC, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Preye-Timini Anderson, and Secretary, Ubong-Etim Joel, described the reports as “figments of the imagination of the authors.”
The statement was made available on Saturday in Abuja.
The group said the insinuations that the ex-agitator, fondly called Adaka Boro the Second, was hobnobbing with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections were untrue.
It said contrary to the reports, Amagbein strongly believed in the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu.
“It remains a mystery to us why his name keeps appearing in anti-Tinubu messages,” it said.
it explained that “Amagbein’s support and commitment towards the re-election of the president in 2027 remains unwavering,”
According to NDVC, this politics of media propaganda is the old method of Amagbein’s naysayers because of pipeline surveillance contracts.
It said records showed that the ex-agitator had been campaigning for President Tinubu, even during his time of travails arising from false allegations meant to silence him.
The NDVC said it had observed the developments keenly and that it was obvious that the same group of people behind Amagbein’s ordeal had renewed their attack against him.
“We know for sure that these constant efforts by naysayers will not silence Amagbein’s devotion to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
“Amagbein has passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, and pledged to continue his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda now and always.
“This is because the administration of President Tinubu has given more opportunities to the people of the Niger Delta region more than previous administrations put together.
“So, we are calling on those behind these media attacks to desist.
“Amagbein is a philanthropist and a peace-loving man who has contributed so much to the peace and stability of the Niger Delta.
“He has also done so much to promote the APC and the programmes and policies of the Tinubu-led government,” it said.
The group also commended the service chiefs and the Minister for Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), for the good work they are doing in the Niger Delta to ensure peace and security of lives and property.
“But we also urged them to do more by causing a discreet investigation into the activities of saboteurs in the Niger Delta,” it said.
