Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has congratulated the newly promoted Directors in the Federal Civil Service, urging them to see their elevation as renewed call to duty.
Walson-Jack spoke on Friday, 22nd November 2024 evening, at Abuja Continental Hotel, in her address at the celebration in honour of the top officials.
She said “Today, we honor the newly promoted Directors of the Federal Civil Service. Congratulations to each of you on this well-deserved recognition of your hard work, commitment, and excellence. This is not just a moment of personal achievement; it is also a moment of collective celebration for the Federal
Civil Service, as we witness the emergence of leaders who will drive us toward a
brighter future.”
Mrs Walson-Jack added that “Today is a moment of celebration, but it is also a moment of reflection and a call to greater responsibility. As newly promoted Directors, you have reached a pinnacle that reflects not just your personal achievements but also the trust and expectations
placed upon you by the Federal Civil Service and the nation at large. This is a call to leadership, to stewardship, and to serve as beacons of integrity, professionalism, and innovation. Your promotion is not the end of the journey but the beginning of a more challenging and fulfilling path where your influence and impact will shape the future of
our Civil Service.”
She noted that “In the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, also known as FCSSIP 25, we have a roadmap to reposition the Civil Service into a worldclass institution that drives sustainable national development. This plan is more than a document; it is a vision of a modern, efficient, and effective Civil Service that meets the needs of the Nigerian people.”
She stressed that “As Directors, you are at the forefront of this transformative agenda. I urge you to embrace the reforms embedded in FCSSIP 25 with utmost commitment and enthusiasm. These reforms are not just abstract policies; they are practical, actionable strategies designed to improve Service delivery, enhance
productivity, and create a more agile and accountable Civil Service. Your role is pivotal
in cascading these reforms down the line, ensuring that every member of your team
understands and aligns with this vision. This is a task that requires clear communication,
consistent engagement, and unwavering dedication.”
The Head of the Civil Service further charged them that ” Leadership is not merely about occupying a position; it is about inspiring others, setting a standard, and being the example you wish to see in your team. You must foster
an environment of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous learning. Your teams look
to you not only for guidance but also for motivation and mentorship. The future of the
Federal Civil Service depends on our ability to cultivate a culture where innovation
thrives, where accountability is non-negotiable, and where excellence is the norm. Be
the leaders who ignite passion and purpose in your teams, and let your actions demonstrate the transformative power of visionary leadership.”
She told them that “As you take on this elevated role, remember that you do not walk this path alone. The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation stands firmly behind you. We are committed to providing the resources, training, and support you need to succeed.
“Our doors are always open, and we are here to listen, to guide, and to partner with you in achieving our shared goals. The success of the Federal Civil Service is our collective
responsibility, and you can be assured of unwavering support as you navigate the
challenges and opportunities of your new roles.
“I charge you, therefore, to rededicate yourselves to the principles of good governance, transparency, and efficiency. Let your leadership inspire confidence among your subordinates and stakeholders. Let your decisions and actions reflect the highest standards of Public Service. And above all, let your legacy be one of impact and progress. Understand that as Directors, you are not only shaping policies but also
shaping lives. The decisions you make and the actions you take will resonate beyond
the confines of your offices, influencing the well-being of citizens and the future of our
nation.”
She counselled that “As we celebrate today, let us also look ahead with renewed determination. The journey to excellence is ongoing, and each of you has a critical role to play. I am confident that with your commitment and leadership, we will continue to build a Civil
Service that is not only the pride of the nation but also a model for others to emulate.
Let this celebration be a reminder of the incredible potential that lies within each of us to create lasting change.”
