Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola congratulates Kemi Badenoch on election as British Conservative Party leader

Nigeria’s immediate past High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola has congratulated Ms Kemi Badenoch, the newly elected leader of the Conservative Party.

Badenoch, who was born in London to Nigerian parents and raised in Lagos, was on Saturday, 2nd October 2024 elected as leader of the British Conservative Party, replacing Rishi Sunak who quit after the party’s disastrous showing in July’s general election.

Badenoch, 44, came out on top in the two-horse race with former immigration minister, Robert Jenrick.

Reacting to Badenoch’s election,  Ambassador Isola while congratulating her hoped “she will use her position to improve on the long standing ties between the Conservative Party and Nigeria.”
