Rivers State Elders Council hails end of State of Emergency

The Rivers State Elders Council has congratulated the people of Rivers State on the end of the emergency rule and the restoration of full democratic governance. The council, in a press statement, urged all stakeholders to embrace the peace and reconciliation that has returned to the state.

The council called on individuals and groups still fanning the embers of discord to stop making inflammatory statements and prioritize the interest of the state. They advised Governor Siminialayi Fubara and the House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, to work harmoniously in the interest of the state.

The council commended Governor Fubara and the leadership of the House of Assembly for making peace and urged them to sustain it. They reminded them of their vow before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to work together in the interest of the state.

The council saluted the good people of Rivers State for their patience and understanding throughout the period of the emergency rule, attributing it to the administration of President Tinubu. They also appreciated the former Governor of the State and Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, for his role in mid-wifing the reconciliation process.

The council expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bringing Rivers State back from the brink and ensuring peace in the state. They thanked him for the confidence reposed in Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as a member of his cabinet.
