The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has constituted a 156-man campaign council to coordinate the party’s campaigns and mobilise support for all its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The composition of the council brings together prominent political leaders, former governors, serving political office holders, former National Assembly members and other stakeholders from across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was appointed Grand Patron of the campaign council, while former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, were named Deputy Grand Patrons.
A former member of the National Assembly, Senator Olalekan Mustapha, will serve as the Director-General of the campaign council.
Two former deputy governors of the state, Senator Gbenga Kaka and Alhaja Salmot Badru, were appointed Patrons.
The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is the Chairman of the campaign council, while the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, will serve as Co-Chairman.
Also appointed into the leadership of the council is Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Tunji Isola, who was named Assistant Grand Patron.
The state Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun, are to serve as Deputy Chairmen respectively.
The Ogun APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, was named Vice Chairman of the campaign council.
Veteran journalist and public affairs commentator, Chief Kayode Odunaro, is the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, placing him at the centre of the council’s media strategy and public communication ahead of the elections.
Other prominent party leaders and former federal lawmakers appointed as Patrons include Senators Iyabo Anisulowo, Gbenga Obadara, Akin Odunsi and Dipo Odujinrin.
The party said the 156-member structure was carefully constituted to reflect the political spread and interests of the three senatorial districts of Ogun State.
The broad-based composition is expected to provide the APC with a combination of political experience, grassroots mobilisation, strategic communication and institutional leadership as it begins preparations for the 2027 elections.
The council is expected to work with party structures at the state, senatorial, local government and ward levels to mobilise voters and consolidate the APC’s political base across Ogun.
The inclusion of leading APC political figures in the state in the campaign council underscores the party’s effort to bring its influential political figures together ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested election.
With Governor Abiodun heading the campaign council and Senator Adeola serving as Co-Chairman, the APC leadership is expected to focus on coordinating the party’s candidates, strengthening grassroots structures and presenting a unified campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
