A former Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has urged politicians to be mindful of their election promises.

Masari, who is also a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, gave the advice on Thursday, in the keynote address he gave, at the 9th Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), held in Lagos.

The theme of the ongoing Conference is “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects.”

Pointing out that realities on  ground when they are elected may warrant realigning earlier promises, he said politicians should however not set out during campaigns to make promises they cannot keep.

Masari who is currently the Chairman of the Board of TETFUND charged GOCOP members and Nigerian journalists in general to continue to keep elected officials on their toes by making them accountable to their election promises.
