Wasiu Ayinde Marshall aka Kwam1, the Fuji music maestro is currently in the news but for the wrong reasons.
Of course, as an entertainer, he’s not new to being shaded by his traducers. That’s what it takes to be an entertainer anyway. Being in the public glare is a sacrifice he has to pay.
This time around, his being called out is from his inner circle – a former band member, who has come out of shell to tell the world about Kwam1’s character portraiture which he claims is uncharitable.
I had to dissect the points raised by his traducer carefully to enable me properly make an unbiased judgement on the matter.
I’m not a fan of KWAM 1 or his songs especially those ones that eulogise his obodo oyinbo trips e.g nígbà tí a de Ontario Canada a lọ jẹ burger.
I also do not appreciate how his fans and teeming supporters have had to genuflect before him or kneel down to spray him money when he sings their praises. I can never see myself grovelling to ‘spray’ any musician my hard earned money. Well, story for another day.
I see the allegations levelled against him by one of his band members as baseless and without form. How could you serve someone for straight 32 years and endure all his shenanigans? Why wish away your personal progress on the altar of servitude to another man? This does not add up at all.
As much as I’m not making a case for K1, as the leader of the band, K1 has the untramelled authority to also hire and fire!
Only God knows at what point the band member fell out with him and what has transpired between both of them. What he’s telling the world about him now is all tales by the moonlight.
To have endured this long with him for a lengthy period of 32-whole-years as a band member means that they must’ve been enjoying the whole time together! So, he should quit sulking now and move on!
