The NAF, in its preliminary explanation, described the incident as a “safe emergency landing on a local farmland following a technical fault.”

The Benue incident occurred just 72 hours after another NAF aircraft went down in Igbokoda, Ondo State, in an incident that claimed the lives of all 32 people reportedly aboard.

The latest incident is therefore expected to renew attention on the safety of military aviation operations and the need for thorough technical assessments of aircraft deployed for operational missions.
