Ogun Gives 3,050 Corps Members ₦50,000 Each

The Ogun State Government has approved a ₦50,000 welfare palliative for each of the 3,050 members of the 2026 Batch C, Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) undergoing their orientation programme in Sagamu.

The state government also approved the donation of 500 mattresses to the NYSC orientation camp in Sagamu to improve accommodation and enhance the welfare of corps members.

The Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, disclosed this in a statement, saying the financial assistance was approved by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun to cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges on the corps members.

According to the statement, disbursement of the funds commenced on Monday, with each eligible corps member expected to receive ₦50,000 to meet personal expenses and other essential needs during the orientation exercise.
The government said the intervention reflected its commitment to the welfare of young Nigerians and recognition of the contributions of corps members to national development.

It noted that many corps members had been deployed away from their families and familiar environments, making additional financial support necessary to ease their transition into the service year.

The donation of 500 mattresses is also expected to improve living conditions at the orientation camp, particularly amid an increase in the number of corps members deployed to the state.

The government said the provision of additional bedding formed part of its efforts to strengthen camp facilities and ensure that corps members had access to decent accommodation during the orientation programme.
It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme, noting that the programme promotes national unity, cultural integration, leadership development and community service.

Corps members also contribute to the development of their host communities through their involvement in education, healthcare and other essential services, the statement added.

The state government urged the corps members to embrace discipline, patriotism, tolerance and selfless service while making meaningful contributions to their host communities.

It also pledged to continue exploring measures to improve facilities at the orientation camp in response to the growing number of corps members deployed to Ogun State.

The government said its interventions were part of broader efforts to promote youth welfare, social inclusion and human capital development.
