NAHCON Chairman Calls for Strategic Synergy and Digital Innovation at Global Hajj Fund Forum in Indonesia

Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has called for deeper international collaboration and accelerated digital transformation to secure the long-term sustainability of Hajj finances.

Yusuf spoke as a prominent international panelist at the 8th International Hajj Fund Forum (IHFF) 2026, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center, according to a statement signed by Shafii Sani Mohammed ,Head, Information and Publications Division, NAHCON.

The event was hosted by Indonesia’s Hajj Financial Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji – BPKH) under the theme “Sustainable Hajj Fund Management Through Strategic Synergy and Digital Transformation.”

The forum brought together global policymakers, Sharia finance experts, and institutional leaders to tackle rising macroeconomic pressures on pilgrimage operations, escalating costs, and the need to protect financial benefits for future generations of pilgrims.

Appearing on a high-level panel alongside BPKH Executive Board Chief Fadlul Imansyah and other international dignitaries, Yusuf shared Nigeria’s experience. He stressed that multi-agency coordination and strong digital systems are essential to shield Hajj operations from global financial volatility.

“The future of Hajj administration depends on our collective ability to innovate,” Yusuf said. “Managing Hajj funds efficiently is no longer just about financing the immediate next pilgrimage; it is about protecting wealth and ensuring sustainable benefits for future generations of pilgrims. By leaning into technological transformations and cementing strategic ties with key global partners like Indonesia, NAHCON is positioning Nigeria at the forefront of transparent and economically sound Hajj operations in line with the interests of current and future generations of pilgrims.”

He also outlined plans to expand investments into high-yielding infrastructure within the Hajj value chain, particularly hospitality and logistics, as a way to reduce accommodation costs while delivering strong returns for the fund.

The forum opened with addresses from Indonesian officials, including Minister of Hajj and Umrah K.H. Mochamad Irfan Yusuf and Vice Minister of Finance Juda Agung.

Participants welcomed Nigeria’s active engagement and its push to build strategic partnerships with other Muslim-majority nations to harness financial technologies for modern Hajj administration.

NAHCON’s participation underscores Nigeria’s drive to develop independent, technology-driven frameworks that create lasting wealth for its pilgrims.
