MAN, CITN Endorse Nigeria Mining Tax Summit, Nominate Resource Persons

The Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), among major professional organizations, have endorsed the Nigeria Mining Tax Summit scheduled to hold in Abuja in November 2026.

While MAN formally accepted its invitation to participate in the summit and pledged its support for the event, CITN confirmed its participation and nominated two senior tax professionals as resource persons.

The summit, organised by The Miners magazine, Secom Limited and Lambard Consulting, is designed to provide a platform for stakeholders in Nigeria’s mining industry to examine the country’s evolving fiscal and tax framework and its implications for mining operations, investment and government revenue.

In a letter dated September 16, 2026, signed by its National President, Dele Ayanleke, MAN said it officially accepted the invitation and “enthusiastically” endorsed the summit.

The association described the initiative as timely, noting that bringing critical fiscal conversations to the forefront of the mining sector was essential to sustainable economic growth.
“Your initiative to bring critical fiscal conversations to the forefront of the mining sector is both timely and essential for driving sustainable economic growth,” Ayanleke stated.
MAN also pledged to contribute its expertise to the summit, participate in key panel discussions and engage with other industry stakeholders towards achieving the objectives of the event.

The association said it would work with the organisers to ensure that the summit provided meaningful outcomes for the mining industry, while requesting regular updates on the developing agenda and logistical arrangements.

MAN also commended The Miners magazine, Secom Limited and Lambard Consulting for initiating what it described as a vital dialogue on taxation and the mining sector.

Similarly, CITN confirmed its participation in the National Mining Tax Summit 2026 in a letter dated September 4, 2026, signed by its Registrar/Chief Executive, Afolake Oso, FCTI.

The institute nominated Alhaji Azeez Alatoye, FCTI, as keynote speaker and Mr Wahab Omoniyi, FCTI, as a panelist.

Alatoye is expected to deliver the lead paper titled “Aligning Mining Operations with Current Tax Laws,” while Omoniyi will participate in the summit’s panel discussions.

According to CITN, the participation of its representatives would contribute to the summit’s objectives, particularly by promoting greater understanding of and compliance with prevailing tax laws and regulations within the mining sector.

The institute also directed that all formal correspondence relating to the participation of the nominated resource persons should be channelled through CITN for onward transmission.

The summit is expected to bring together government regulators, mining companies, investors, tax professionals and other stakeholders to examine the implications of Nigeria’s emerging fiscal framework for the mining industry.

The organisers said the event would provide a structured platform for stakeholders to discuss how taxation can support investment, strengthen government revenue and promote sustainable growth in the sector.

The Nigeria Mining Tax Summit is scheduled for November 11–13, 2026, in Abuja, according to the latest announcement by the organisers.

The summit comes amid growing attention to taxation and fiscal policy as Nigeria seeks to deepen the contribution of the mining sector to economic diversification, investment and public revenue.
