Yayi Presents Brand-New 18-Seater Bus to Ogun NUJ

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has fulfilled his promise to support the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state with the presentation of a brand-new 18-seater Toyota HiAce bus to the union.

The gesture came few days after the governorship candidate visited the Ogun State NUJ Secretariat, where he pledged to assist the union in strengthening its operations and addressing some of its logistical challenges.

The presentation of the vehicle, according to the candidate’s representatives, underscores Adeola’s commitment to keeping promises made to stakeholders and supporting institutions considered critical to the development of Ogun State.

The keys to the new Toyota HiAce bus were formally handed over to the leadership of the Ogun NUJ by Adeola’s Personal Assistant, Otunba Niyi Sanusi, at a ceremony attended by members of the union.

Speaking during the handover, Sanusi said the donation was a practical demonstration of the candidate’s commitment to his promises and his recognition of the important role journalists and the NUJ play in society.

He said Adeola considered the media an important partner in the development of the state, adding that the support for the NUJ was part of his broader commitment to engaging and assisting key stakeholder groups across Ogun State.

According to him, the candidate’s decision to respond promptly to the union’s needs demonstrated that his visit to the NUJ Secretariat was not merely a political engagement but an opportunity to identify areas where he could make tangible contributions.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the executive and entire membership of the Ogun State Council of the NUJ, its Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, expressed appreciation to Adeola for fulfilling his pledge.
Olanrewaju described the donation as a timely intervention that would significantly ease the union’s transportation and administrative challenges.

He noted that the provision of the bus would enhance the ability of the union and its members to undertake official assignments, attend programmes and carry out activities requiring group transportation.

The NUJ chairman commended the APC governorship candidate for responding to the union’s request and demonstrating what he described as a commitment to supporting the journalism profession in the state.
He assured Adeola of the goodwill of the union’s leadership and membership, while stressing the importance of continued engagement between political leaders, government and the media.

The presentation comes as political activities intensify in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with candidates and political parties stepping up engagements with professional bodies, community organisations and other stakeholder groups across the state.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, emerged as the APC’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election after the party’s primary election.

The latest gesture further highlights the candidate’s ongoing engagements with organised groups and institutions as he seeks support ahead of the election.
