In a remarkable gesture of philanthropy and support for correctional administration, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CHISCO Group Nigeria Limited, Chief Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu, has donated two Mercedes-Benz luxury buses to the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, to commemorate his 70th birthday.
The landmark donation formed part of the activities marking the 70th birthday celebration of the CHISCO Group founder. He was accompanied by his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Ngozi Anyaegbu, his children, members of the CHISCO Group management team, family members, friends, and Vicars from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The presentation ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Lagos State Command, led by the Assistant Controller-General of Corrections in charge of Zone A, ACG Raphael Ogaba Unazi, who represented the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche.
In his welcome address, the Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, CC Daramola George, formally received the CHISCO Group delegation and expressed appreciation for the company’s continued support and commitment to improving the welfare and operational capacity of the Service.
CC Daramola commended Chief Anyaegbu for the generous donation, describing it as a significant contribution to the Nigerian Correctional Service.
He noted that the provision of the buses would enhance mobility and facilitate the smooth discharge of official responsibilities at the Ikoyi facility. He further stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the Service and responsible corporate citizens.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu stated that the donation was borne out of his desire to give back to society and contribute meaningfully to public institutions.
He was accompanied by his son, Mr. Obinna Kingsley Anyaegbu, who has remained a consistent partner in initiatives involving the Ikoyi Custodial Centre and has continued to demonstrate commitment to its development.
The gesture underscores the Anyaegbu family’s longstanding interest in supporting initiatives that promote better conditions, rehabilitation, and effective correctional administration.
The ceremony also featured goodwill messages and prayers offered by the Vicars of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ikoyi, as family members, friends, and associates joined in celebrating the milestone birthday of the CHISCO Group founder.
The vote of thanks was delivered by the Officer in Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ikoyi, DCC Dr. Julius Ogueri, who expressed profound appreciation to Chief Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu and his family for the thoughtful and impactful donation.
He described the two luxury buses as a valuable addition to the facility and prayed for continued blessings, good health, and greater accomplishments for the CHISCO Group founder as he begins a new decade of life.
