The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has warned intending pilgrims and Tour Operators against fraudulent individuals demanding money in exchange for guaranteed slots for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The Commission, in a public notice dated August 15, 2026, said it had received reports that some unscrupulous persons claiming to be its agents or staff were contacting Tour Operating Companies and intending pilgrims to demand various sums of money.
According to NAHCON, the individuals were promising to secure or guarantee special allocations for the 2027 Hajj in return for the payments.
The Commission stressed that no individual, agent, Tour Operator or any other person had been authorised to demand or collect any form of payment, facilitation fee or additional money for the purpose of guaranteeing, facilitating or securing special Hajj slot allocations.
NAHCON said the allocation of Hajj slots would be strictly governed by approved procedures and carried out in accordance with its guidelines for the licensing of Tour Operators, which it said were already in the public domain.
It warned that anyone contacting Tour Operators or intending pilgrims to request money in exchange for guaranteed slots was acting fraudulently and without the authority of the Commission.
The Commission urged members of the public who receive such requests to report them to the police or other relevant law enforcement agencies.
NAHCON also advised intending pilgrims to make payments only through officially designated channels, including State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, designated Hajj Savings Banks and duly licensed Tour Operators.
It further urged pilgrims and Tour Operators to report unsolicited calls, messages or demands for additional payments relating to Hajj slot allocations.
The Commission warned that intending pilgrims and operators must adhere strictly to the official deadlines, noting that failure to upload pilgrims’ data by September 26, 2026, and complete payment remittances by December 2, 2026, would lead to forfeiture of allocated slots.
It said such forfeiture would apply regardless of assurances or claims made by unauthorised individuals.
NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair and orderly 2027 Hajj exercise, urging the public to rely exclusively on official communications from the Commission.
