
No fewer than 33 persons were reportedly arrested overnight at Babs Hotel in Ede, the hometown of incumbent Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over alleged attempts to influence today’s governorship election.
According to reports, the suspects allegedly told the police that they were brought into Osun State from Ekiti and Ondo States to participate in the election and vote for the Accord Party.
The circumstances surrounding their alleged presence at the hotel and the claims attributed to them are yet to be independently verified, while investigations are reportedly ongoing.
In a separate development, the Chairman of Irewole Local Government, alongside some suspected political thugs, was also reportedly arrested this morning over an alleged attempt to interfere with the electoral process.
Authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive official statement on both incidents.
