Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has said Ramadan is not only a period of fasting but also a time to cultivate empathy, generosity, and service to others.

He said this at the 2026 Special Iftar organised by the Ogun State Government in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

Welcoming guests to the event, the governor congratulated Muslim faithful across the state and beyond for witnessing another season of fasting, reflection, and devotion.

He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and noted the significance of Ramadan coinciding with the Christian season of Lent this year, describing it as a reminder of the shared values of faith, compassion, discipline, and spiritual renewal that unite humanity.

He also acknowledged the leadership of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his commitment to justice, inclusiveness, and national unity, as well as his consistent promotion of religious harmony among Nigerians of different faiths.

He appreciated the presence of respected Islamic scholars and particularly welcomed the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose lecture on “An Islamic Path to Societal Re-Orientation” emphasised the need for a renewal of moral values, integrity, compassion, and civic responsibility in society.

Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance through the Building Our Future Together agenda, which, he said, focuses on social welfare, youth empowerment, economic growth, and inclusive development.

He encouraged continued support for the vulnerable and called for sustained unity and peaceful coexistence among all faiths in Ogun State.
