Police Commissioner Dismisses Three Officers for Kidnapping, Extortion

Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has dismissed three officers for their involvement in a criminal conspiracy that saw them abducting and extorting  money from innocent victims.

The disgraced officers have also been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution, alongside their civilian accomplices.

The officers dismissed are:

Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (Force No. 501356) – Area Command, Aba

Corporal James Daniel (Force No. 511844) – Department of Operations, Umuahia

Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (Force No. 511853) – Eziama Division

According to reports, the officers, in collaboration with two civilians, hired a minibus and carried out an abduction along the Port Harcourt Expressway on January 29, 2025.

Armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol, they intimidated their victims and forced them to part with huge sums of money. Not satisfied, they demanded ransom payments from the victims’ families before setting them free.

Their criminal activities came to an end when they were apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abayi.

A thorough investigation on their involvement resulted in their Orderly Room Trial, which confirmed their guilt. Resulting from this, they were dismissed from service, and their police gears were retrieved.

Danladi reassured residents that the force remained committed to discipline, integrity, and public trust.
