There is no doubt Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro the Executive Secretary Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) since his coming on board, has brought about remarkable revolution and transformation of public polytechnics in Nigeria.

In the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” At the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (2016) the Fund, through Bogoro’s vision, has led to the fabrication of modified solar powered spray sanitizer tunnel – both machines with dual mechanical foot operated hand design and fabrication of combined mobile wind and solar power system to power laboratory experimental training development of combined solar and gas powered food dehydrator.

At the Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, it is a very interesting scenario where TETFund has implemented far-reaching initiatives under the visionary leadership of Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro which is yielding positive results, with the design and fabrication of oil palm kernel processing mill, fabrication of automated garri frying machine, fabrication of solar powered cashew nutseed, extracting machine for farmers, design and fabrication of plantain processing and fabrication of solar refrigerator system.

Interestingly, at the Federal Polytechnic Bida (2015) fabrication, testing performance evaluation of mini plant, with production capacity of 3 tons daily. Quite commendable and legendary! As well, there is fabrication, testing of depumping

machine for African locust beans and testing of 50KVA, photo voltaic power system and fabrication, installation and testing of multi-purpose stripping and threshing machine.

Furthermore, under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro in (2016) radical transformation took place at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi with the fabrication of an improved maize shilling machine as well as fabrication of an improved soya beans thresher, fabrication of an improved hybrid power egg incubator and fabrication of improved rice harvester.

Similarly, at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri (2015) lofty and illuminating strides are evident courtesy of Prof Bogoro’s leadership, with the fabrication and performance evaluation of small scale corn reseeding machine, fabrication and performance evaluation of a charcoal evaporative cooker for storing fresh farm produce and performance evaluation of mechanically operated millet trash.

Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro’s commendable feats are glaring and remarkable at Edo State Polytechnic, Usen (2015-2016) with the fabrication and installation of plastic recycling machine products, fabrication and installation of changeable vibrator block making machine as well as fabrication of solar dryer for preservation of fruits and vegetable, as well as fabrication of multi-masonry pavers (interlocking tiles).

In the illuminating words of Dr. Robert Schuller, “What you set your heart upon, for it will surely be yours.” Prof Suleiman Elias Bogoro and his able team’s feats at Federal Polytechnic Ila Irangun, Ogun State (2015-2016) are quiet revolutionary, with the fabrication of fruit juice drink processing machine, water tank boilers, fruit washing machine, fabrication of fish feed processing machine, horizontal mixer and open dryer among others. Also, worthy of mention, is Prof. Suleiman Bogoro’s

Commendable and visionary feats achieved at per Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State (2015) with the fabrication of palm oil machine.

Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in Ondo State (2015-2016) has also witnessed radical transformation under the legendary and dynamic leadership of Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, with the fabrication of groundnut roasting cumchulling machine, fabrication and development of micro-controller based weather, an application of GSM monitoring equipment technology. As well as 5Nr. unit of incinerator for waste management, fabrication of industrial mixer (heavy duty) fabrication of rod twisting machine, portray separator, fabrication of 300KVA power factor correction panels for training and research and fabrication of block molding machine etc.

“Nobody makes the greater mistake, than he who did nothing because he could only do a little” says Edmund Burke. The situation at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, could simply be described as a case of res lpsa laquitor (the facts speaks for themselves) with the development of brick making machine, fabrication of an electric clay grounding mill (2015).

At Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo (2016) design and fabrication of solar powered cold room for agricultural produce storage was put in place, while at Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse (2016) multi-purpose cereal threshing and performance evaluation, 2 No. of mobile beans cereal were fabricated. The Akwa-Ibom State Polytechnic Ikot-Osuru is not left out where they have fabrication of fruits juice extractor, fabrication of a 100kg plastic waste recycling plant, ice block making machine, incubation/hatching unit, fabrication of hydraulic powered robotic arm, fabrication of vegetable slicing machine and fabrication of pilot plant for particles board production.

In the same vein, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, and his amiable team at the Hussaini Adamu Polytechnic (2015/2016), has ensured the fabrication of rice threshing machine, to improve the process of rice production in Nigeria, which can feed Nigeria and the entire Sub-Sahara Africa as well as fabrication of computerized fruit vegetable drying system, fabrication and measurement of electrical properties of copper, fabrication of automobile demonstration machine and ground-nut oil extraction machine, fabrication of paddy rice production in Nigeria and fabrication of kerosene egg incubator for small scale famers.

It is worth of note that, at Umar Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Sokoto (2015/2016 merged) far reaching initiatives were put in place under the unique leadership of Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro at the institution, with the fabrication of rain water harvesting and water filtration unit for Umar Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic (main campus) as well as fabrication of a hybrid system for production of alpha fuels, fabrication of non-fuel generator, fabrication of yam peeling and slicing machine for yam processing plant and construction of solar powered pesticides sprayer on wheels.

It is very interesting to also know that at Ibadan Polytechnic, fabrication of automatic sanitizing tunnel, fabrication of mini mechanical ventilator, fabrication of a semiautomatic sandcrete block making machine, fabrication of incinerator for waste management and fabrication of a metal bending machine are initiatives put in place at the institution by TETFund visionary and dynamic leadership.

At Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (between 2014-2016), fabrication of 10kv solar equipment, fabrication of a power operated yam processing machine, fabrication of solar powered poultry feather plucking equipment for Nigeria economy were put in place. In a related development private entrepreneurs are also invited by TETFund to collaborate with the polytechnics to further develop and commercialize the fabricated equipments.

In Kano State Polytechnic (2016-2019), commendable feats were also put in place by the indefatigable Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro and his team in the institution with the fabrication of small scale groundnut oil extracting plant, construction of automatic solar tracking machine, fabrication of pico hydro turbine and fabrication of multi-experimental trainer kit etc. At Abia State polytechnic in 2016-2019 fantastic initiatives like fabrication of garri frying machine, fabrication of electrically powered hammer mill, fabrication of wood leather machine and fabrication of led light fittings were also initiated for the common good of all.

At Kaduna Polytechnic (2014), TETFund initiatives include: fabrication of solar powered kiosk on a mobile system for juice cooling and retail dispensing of fresh fruit product. As well as fabrication of an acha truller, fabrication of centri-fugal blower for local black smith, fabrication of concrete mixing machine, fabrication of concentrated solar thermal power generating plant and fabrication of laboratory system for temperature instrumentation are initiatives that are quiet commendable and legendary.

At the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede in Imo State (2016-2019), various impactful TETFund initiatives which have added value to the institution iinclud: fabrication of a coconut dehusking machine, fabrication of a rice destoning machine, fabrication of a solar powered electric car, fabrication of palm fruit bunch stripping machine, fabrication of palm fruit digesting machine etc. In the same vein, at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, TETFund initiatives are obvious such as fabrication of a biomass gasifier for producing syntheses, fabrication of cassava peeling machine, fabrication and development of horizontal air stream separator and fabrication of an automatic pastry flour (amala) making machine.

Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe-Bayelsa (2016/2017 and 2019) is not left out with initiatives including fabrication of vertical palm kernel breaker, fabrication of

horizontal palm kernel cracking machine, fabrication of gas powered palm oil processing mill, fabrication of 2No. incinerator for waste management and fabrication of solar powered refrigerator.

At Adamawa State Polytechnic, the wind of change towards good tindings in the institution has also been witnessed (2014-2016), with the fabrication and evaluation of a 2No. Rice per boiler, fabrication and evaluation of 4No. rice drilling machine, fabrication of a 4 No. vegetable dryer and fabrication of agricultural shredding machine in the institution by Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro and his team are feats that should be commended by all Nigerians.

In conclusion and putting the record straight, my write-up is an exposition bringing out the many prototypes of machines designed and fabricated at the public polytechnics across the six zones of the country, which are not known to the public and could be of interest to budding entrepreneurs. I am therefore using the opportunity to invite the private sector to cash in, develop and commercialize the novel initiatives through various collaboration with the public polytechnics. Moreso, looking at the giant strides put in place at the public polytechnics across the length and breath of our dear country by TETFund  under the unique leadership of Prof. Suleiman Bogoro and his team, one could say without any sentiment, that Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro and his team have brought a new lease of live to the resuscitation and revitalization of technological advancement in our public polytechnics, which is inline with the Latin maxim salus populi suprema ex lex – meaning (the good of the people is the supreme law) as it is the new normal as professed by the change mantra of our dynamic President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR). While urging Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro and is team in TETFund in their quest for nation building, should always have solace in the words of Sidney Brewer who posits that “No tyranny of circumstances, can permanently imprison a determined mind, because where there is a will there must always be a way” As given Prof. Suleiman Bogoro and his team another five year tenure by our able and unique president Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) will be well appreciated by millions of Nigerians, geared towards the consolidation of numerous successes achieved at the tertiary institutions level.
