The above illuminating words of Dr. Joyce Brother succinctly captures the personality of Prof. Dokwan Danjuma Sheni, a prolific and versatile Scholar whose pedigree and antecedents globally acknowledged as an intellectual giant.
Prof. Danjuma Sheni is a Product of the prestigious University of Benin, Benin City and later proceeded to Canada for his Master’s and PhD in optometry and he is the First African to receive a PhD in optometry in 1984 and he later invented an instrument to measure a fussion limits, for which he obtained a Canadian patent.
Prof. Danjuma Sheni is a Scholar of repute whose intellectual Sagacity is recognized in the Comity of Civilized Nations and globally. In 1981 he passed his exams with flying colours to become a fellow of the American academy of optometry (FAAO) as well as a fellow of the South African optometric Association. In recognition of his academic brilliance and prowess, he served as the Dean, Research and Development at the University of Limpopo, South Africa, Dean faculty of Health Sciences as well as Head of Department in the Ivory tower. And in March 2003 the South African optometric Association presented Prof. Danjuma Sheni with a Certificate of Tribute in recognition of his immense and immeasurable services to optometry in South Africa.

Prof. Danjuma Sheni is a consummate Community leader whose invaluable service to humanity is legendary. He was honoured as the best Vice-Chancellor of Plateau State University on the basis of “Excellent Performance: as well as bestowed with African Patriotic Personality award of the Year 2017 by the league of African Development Students (Leads Africa).
Prof. Danjuma Sheni as an intellectual giant and a Colossus. In 2017 received an award the “icon of Higher Education Renaissance “from African Students Union Parliament. Prof. Danjuma Sheni a Prolific writer and scholar who has Published to his credits many international journals, amongst whose is” Diagnostic optometry” and binocular vision: Diagnostic Procedures and Work Book. In further recognition of his Sterling leadership qualities Prof. Sheni was elected Chairman Committee of States owned Universities in 2017 -2018. On his Meritorious Service to Educational Development in Northern Nigeria and beyond, he was bestowed with the merit award as the Garkuwan Matasan Arewa/icon of Educational Transformation from Northern Youth Council of Nigeria.
