The People’s Democratic Party PDP has inaugurated it’s E-registration Committee at the Party headquarters Wadata Plaza Abuja on Wednesday.
The 19 Member Committee has Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as chairman while the Adamawa State Governor Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is to serve as Deputy chairman.
Inaugurating the Committee, the PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus explained that the idea is to have a proper data base in line with the fast changing technology age.
Secondus noted that PDP which is the only Party that has retained its name since 1989 embraced digital technology since 2010, regretting that at a time the world is going digital, President Muhammadu Buhari and his APC are bent at denying Nigerians the opportunity to move with the changing times.
While expressing confidence in the capacity of the committee to deliver on it’s mandate with an IT driven chairman, he called on President Buhari to unban the microblogging twitter aimed at stopping Nigerians from exercising their rights.
Prince Secondus described as unacceptable the action of the President denying the Youth and the productive sector the freedom to engage with the rest of the world.
He said Nigerians should rise and reject the dictatorial regime sabotaging efforts to carry out electoral reforms.
The PDP National Chairman also called on the President and the National Assembly to drop Laureta Onoche as a nominee for INEC appointment, adding that she is an APC card carrying member and Special Adviser to the President.
Responding on behalf of other members, the committee Chairman and Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki, promised to come up with a product that will make the Party proud.
He said PDP is using digital technology to expand its membership base, noting that nobody will be excluded in the process.
