The Ogun State Government says it will revoke title hold on all abandoned land spaces used as illegal dumpsites across the State for security reasons.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority, OGWAMA, Mr Ola Oresanya, the state government took the decision after it was discovered that several parcels of land abandoned by their owners have been converted to illegal dumpsites which are now haven for ritualists and den for armed robbers.
“These abandoned land spaces converted to illegal dumpsites not only constitute security risk to their immediate communities, they also pose major health risk because of their environmental nuisance, so the need to revoke the title hold on them”.
He added that the State Government has now directed its relevant government organ to begin the process of revoking the title hold on such land in public interest.
Mr Oresanya therefore advised owners of such abandoned land spaces now used as illegal dumpsites to immediately clear them of waste and restore them to their original state or risk forfeiting them as the State Government will not fold its hands and watch the carelessness of few individuals become a major security and health risks to the good people of Ogun State.
