A statement from the state government said the flag off was done on Wednesday by Governor Dapo Abiodun at the State Agro Services Corporation, Ijebu Ode and that the governor was represented by the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina.
At the event, Knapsack Sprayers, Water Pumps, NPK fertilizer (20-10-10), and Post Emergence Herbicide (Tackle) were distributed to the Rice value chain beneficiaries, who had been drawn from those that had earlier registered with the Government of Ogun State and had been successfully screened by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Participants were implored to take full advantage of the supplementary assistance provided by Ogun State Government, and also abide by the terms of engagement of the linkage programme so that other participants yet to be linked, can learn from their good performance. It was further noted that similar exercises are ongoing for Maize and Cotton value chains, while the State Government is facilitating arrangements on Aquaculture, Cocoa and Cattle Value Chains in the Anchor Borrowers Programme.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, and Officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN).
