The Commissioner in charge of the Operations, Licencing and Tour Operators, Alh. Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa has said that the resuscitation of NAHCON Zonal Office in Sokoto and establishment of outreach centres in Bauchi, Kaduna, Katsina and Yola was meant to strengthen the administration of the Commission and decentralize responsibilities to the outreach centres.

Speaking during an interview with the In-house media crew, the Commissioner said that the idea behind the resuscitation of the Sokoto zonal and creation of new outreach centres was to ease the administration and logistics of the clients especially against the backdrop of insecurity and insurgency in the country.

According to him, “the outcome of reducing the zonal offices has become cumbersome and causes lots of stress and logistics problem at the Headquarters. Besides, we also took the issue of security into consideration. We felt, we’ll be exposing the lives of our staffs and those of the pilgrims to danger, that was why we decided to restore the zonal office in Sokoto which served as the centre for the airlift of the largest number of pilgrims in the North-West zone he said”.

Alh. Hardawa who expressed delight at the re-opening of Umrah Operation for international pilgrims by the Saudi government said “it is a very delightful development for the whole Muslim world. I think we should commend them for the decision which has not been an easy one. We need to praise them for not trying to sacrifice people’s lives for their own well-being and economy”.

He added “it is a good signal that with patience and time every other things including Hajj would be eased. It is our hope, desire and prayers that every prospective pilgrim will be able to perform Hajj this year depending on the guidelines issued by Saudi Government.
