Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha has described the contributions of the late Dr. Mahmud Tukur to the development of Nigeria and democracy as inviolable and laudable.

 

He stated this in his condolence letter to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, the home state of the Tukur, a former Minister of Commerce and Industry and also the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

In the condolence letter dated 13th April, 2021, Boss Mustapha said “The intelligence and sheer practicability Dr. Mahmud possessed was nothing shy of brilliance, his devotion to duty and relentlessness was worthy of emulation. It was no wonder that he recorded significant milestones in his career as a scholar and politician. He was a trendsetter being the foundation upon which Bayero University Kano was established as its pioneer Vice Chancellor , a responsibility he discharged with uncommon commitment His dedication was further rewarded when General Buhari appointed him as his Minister of Commerce and Industry, this he discharged with sincere patriotism and deep conviction. His selfless contributions to the development and growth of Nigeria is inviolable and his contributions to democracy laudable.”

The SGF, who is also from Adamawa State prayed for the repose of Dr. Tukur’s soul who died on April 9, 2021 at the age of 82 years and has since been buried in Yola, Adamawa State.
