The management of General Hospital, Ijede, has provided a life-saving free medical treatment to Michael Ayodele, an abused five-year-old boy, who had been subjected to ill-treatment by his guardian and aunt, Oluwaseyi Mary Odeyemi, for the past six months.
According to the Deputy Medical Director of the Facility, Dr. Olumuyiwa Balogun-Oluwa, the boy was brought to the hospital with a deep cut on his head around 8.30 pm on July 14, 2021, by the Lagos State Child Protection Rescue Team after he had been rescued from Odeyemi at Gberigbe in Ikorodu with the support of the LNSC, Ijede Office and the Nigeria Police Force, Area N, Ijede Division.
He said Ayodele, who was tied-up behind a fridge in the sitting room, had suffered several forms of abuse and deprivation including inadequate feeding, lack of education, healthcare, love, affection, free movement and physical abuse, which had resulted in several body injuries and stiff hands from being tied up for long.
Dr. Balogun-Oluwa, however, noted that the victim is responding well to the prompt and adequate treatment from the experienced medical staff of the hospital, stressing that perpetrator is in police custody and would soon be arraigned for prosecution.
