The abduction of the Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Al-Hassan Adamu, with13 others in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State is a clear signal and indication that we face the same peril across ethnic and religious divide.
Now that an emir has been kidnapped, we all can appreciate the fact that criminality is not a respecter of tribe or religion. We can’t wait for too long to have a taste of what others are passing through.
As at present, over 300 persons, mostly students, are in the den of kidnappers as these mindless brigands continue to reduce our communities into rubbles. Some of our schools have been shut down in a bid to escape the fangs of these abductors. We do not know how long these schools will be under locks and keys as apprehension and anxiety take the better of us.
We are slowly being consumed by something that is becoming more dreadful and fearsome. The solution is not to restrict these crimes to ethnicity and religion, the answer is to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice. Our understaffed security personnel may not combat these criminals, but we can engage attacked communities to resist these agents of destruction in order to secure our people.
Government needs to deploy modern technology to deal with this raging security challenges. If USA can deploy its Marines to secure the release of one American citizen that was captured in Niger Republic, then we must not allow the world to turn us into a laughing stock as we remain incapable of rescuing our children and monarchs from these bandits that are daring government.
