Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu made this known while sympathizing with his counterpart and other members of the Katsina State House of Assembly.
Engr. Danladi-Salihu in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf bemoaned the huge loss occasioned by the inferno and commiserated with the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Alhaji Tasiu Musa Maigari, his colleagues as well as the government and people of Katsina State.
“We are very pained and sad to learn about the Wednesday early morning inferno that destroyed the Chamber of our colleagues at the Katsina State House of Assembly”.
“On behalf of my humble self and the Kwara State House of Assembly, I sympathise with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alhaji Tasiu Musa Maigari, other members of the Katsina State House of Assembly and the government of Kastina State over the regrettable incident”.
He also called for caution and strict adherence to safety protocols on the use and handling of electrical gadgets and appliances to prevent the future recurrence of an avoidable fire outbreak.
While urging the Speaker and other Honourable members of the Katsina State House of Assembly to be comforted by the fact that no life was lost, Engr. Danladi-Salihu prayed for Allah’s continuous protection against a repeat of such an unfortunate incident.
According to reports, the inferno which was suspected to have been caused by electrical appliances that were left on started right behind the Speaker’s seat which was completely burnt to ashes. Other areas affected by the incident are the press and guest gallery as well as some seats of other members of the assembly.
