A School Principal in Kano State has been removed for leaving for the Sallah break without informing the Ministry of Education.
The Principal, Mal. Sabo Muhammad Ahmad, also lost his position for “his inability to retain the 300 students writing NECO Examinations in his school despite the Circular released to all Principals/ Directors to that effect. “
A statement on Saturday by Aliyu Yusuf, Chief Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Education Kano State said  “The Honourable Commissioner of Education has just approved the immediate removal of Mal. Sabo Muhammad Ahmad, the current Principal of GSS Dambatta and directed the Executive Secretary, Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board to send his replacement immediately. He is to report to the Ministry on Monday for further directive.
“The removal was as a result of his inability to retain the 300 students writing NECO Examinations in his school despite the Circular released to all Principals/ Directors to that effect. But he reluctantly released all the students and also left the school to his home town possibly for sallah break without informing the Ministry.
“This action is a portrayal of laxity, betrayal of trust reposed in him, insubordination and gross misconduct.
“It is to be recall that Kano State Government has directed all boarding schools to retain in school, their students writing NECO Examinations with adequate and special feeding arrangements including purchase of 19 cows as a special gesture for sallah.”
