The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), on Friday, described the recent killings of scores of farmers in Borno State by members of Boko Haram group as crime against humanity.
The Secretary of Academic Forum of the IMN, Abdullahi Musa, in a statement made available in Abuja, said the attack was disheartening.
“The report of close to four scores of farmers being killed in Zabarmari Community of Jere Local Government, Borno State, by the so-called Boko-Haram elements on Saturday, 28 November, 2020, is disheartening, matter-of-factly.
“Such a massacre of innocent citizens is cold-hearted crime against humanity. Even though every human life has a right to be treated with respect and regard, not an ounce was accorded to the  victims,'” he said.
Musa condemned the attack in its entirety.
The secretary also condemned the reaction of Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, to the massacre.
He said the sanctity of human life is worth any mechanisms of serious defence for its protection and preservation but the Muhammadu Buhari regime has no repecter for the life’s sanctity.
“If the loss of a citizen’s life is seen as a national disaster of monumental proportion to any serious nation in the world; what about 110 citizens, beheaded in the cruellest of manners?
“However, in the immediate aftermath of the senseless and brutal killings, Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President [Media and Publicity], defied logic and came up with unguarded utterances in his usual attempt to exonerate Buhari and instead laid blame on the victims,’ he said
Musa recalled that Shehu had said that “the  rice farmers who died at the hand of Boko Haram in Borno State did not get security clearance to go to their farms.”
According to him, if anything, he simply ridiculed the Presidency and further exposed its subtle approval of the incident, as citizens are now almost always at sea, nay between the devil and the deep blue sea.
“Either they die at the hand of security agents or at their behest under the guise of lack of security clearance,” he said.
Musa said it was unfortunate that Nigerians now have “a set of people at the corridors of power who are senseless, incompetent and have no regard for human life.”
“They are only good in attacking, killing and jailing peaceful protesters who are calling on the government to do the right thing
“Buhari and his other top government officials are not unaware of this damning fact. Thanks to Lai Muhammad who said the global powers that sponsored Buhari to be president are frustrating Nigeria’s effort in addressing the issue of Boko Haram.
“Sheikh Zakzaky, the most oppressed personage in Nigeria, has long since forewarned that what is happening is just a foreign conspiracy which aims at plunging the country into chaos.
The similitude to the happenstance in the North, of wanton destruction and brutality, can be seen in Libya, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan, and other invaded parts of the world, where foreign powers got in on and descended on them, killing innocent citizens and plundering resources in the name of fighting ‘terrorism’.
“But, if what they do is really staving off ‘terrorism’, let terrorism be given another moniker.
“As we condemn the beheading of Innocent farmers, we also condole their families, the helpless and hapless people of Borno State and all the Nigerian citizens, on this cycle of tragedies.
We urge all Nigerians to unite against all forms of oppression, and be firm against intimidation.
“We demand for the unconditional release of our leader Sheikh Ibraheem El-zakzaky and his wife, Zeenah,” he said.
