The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), on Tuesday, revealed how the Federal Government ignored court order and framed up charges against its Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zalzaky and his wife, Zeenah.
The Secretary, Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement, Abdullahi Muhammad Musa, made this known in a statement in Abuja titled: “Sheikh El-Zakzaky Continued Incarceration: The Buck on Buhari’s Table.”
“The public is not unaware that after the 2015 massacre, Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife, through their chief counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, approached the Federal High Court, Abuja for the enforcement of their fundamental rights.
“On December 2, 2016, the Court ordered Buhari to release the couple unconditionally.
“The Buhari regime, not happy with the historic judgement because it didn’t go its way, ignored the order and concocted charges against the ailing couple to maintain legal cover for Buhari and the regime’s intent to hold them in detention in perpetuity, and the two were transferred to the unhealthy prison in Kaduna,” he said.
Musa stated that the Falani has since taken the necessary legal steps to bring the new series of trumped-up charges to an end despite the Kaduna State government’s prosecutor playing the familiar game of delaying tactics to prolong the case indefinitely, without any regard for the couple’s fragile and deteriorating health.
‘Clear and distinct, all those in whose so-called names Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife remain incarcerated in Kaduna overcrowded prison are Buhari’s mere remote-controlled tools, for the buck stops at his own table alone.
“Therefore, Buhari is to blame for the Sheikh’s terrible ordeal in its entirety,” he alleged.
According to him. peaceful protesters have been killed in large numbers in broad day light, places of worship, schools, homes and other property demolished without cause.
“There is virtually no civil right upon which the regimers have not trampled and violated.
“It should also be noted that the Sheikh has already suffered two strokes in more than half a decade in detention.
“Both Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife need urgent interventions to salvage their health,” he said.
With this development, Musa vowed that the group would continue to condemn the government and protest against all odds unless their leader is released unconditionally.
