Gov. Udom Emmanuel constitutes Panel of Enquiry on expulsion of undergraduate over Facebook post

Akwa Ibom State Government has constituted a panel of inquiry to investigate the expulsion of Iniobong Isang Ekpo by the state university.

Mr. Iniobong Ekpo, a final year student of Akwa Ibom State University was expelled after a Facebook post he made against the state governor. Following his expulsion, Iniobong took the university to court demanding N20 million for damages from the university.

The Facebook post he made was where he called out the governor on his failed promises to graduates of Akwa Ibom university.

In addressing the issue, Governor  Udom Emmanuel has approved the constitution up of a panel of enquiry consisting of the following members:

1. Mrs Idongesit Etiebet – Hon. Commissioner for Education- Chairman.

2. Dr. Imoh Moffat- Hon. Commissioner for Science and Technology- Secretary.

3. Mr. Uķo Udom SAN- Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice- Member.

4. Mr. Akan Okon -Hon Commissioner for Economic  Development and Ibom Deep Seaport- Member.

5. Pastor Sunny Ibuot- Hon Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning-Member.

The Panel has the following terms of reference:

a) Find out the immediate and remote cause(s) of the expulsion of Mr. Iniobong Isang Ekpo by the Senate of AKSU.

2. Ascertain if Mr Iniobong Isang Ekpo  was given a fair hearing.

3. Make appropriate recommendations to His Excellency, the Governor within two weeks.
