CSOs map out policy framework on poverty reduction in Kaduna

A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations is mapping out modalities to assist Kaduna state Government implement a comprehensive policy on social investment programme towards poverty alleviation.

Coordinator of the Coalition Ms. Jessica Bartholomew stated this in Zaria Kaduna state at a Workshop organized by Kaduna Social Protection Accountability Coalition in collaboration with Save the Children, media and civil society organizations.

She explained that previous intervention programmes have led to issues of poor targeting, duplication of interventions, as well as weak transparency and accountability hence the need for stakeholders to support government drive for successful intervention programs in the future.

Bartholomew stated that the workshop was to explore lessons learnt during the COVID-19 palliatives distribution and also to deepen participants understanding of Social Protection issues and programmes.

In a message to the event, state Focal Person on the Social Investment Programme, Saude Atoyebi announced that the state government has captured over One Hundred and thirty thousand vulnerable people into the register in nine Local Government Areas while the process has commenced to capture other people in remaining Fourteen Local Government Areas.

She expressed satisfaction with the Coalition for it’s efforts to assist the state in uplifting standard of living of the poor and vulnerable persons.
