COVID-19: Ghana President, Akufo-Addo and former president, John Kufour go on self isolation

The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo went into self isolation yesterday, July 4, on the advice of his physicians.

The Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said in a statement that
“On the advice of doctors, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is from today, July 4, 2020 taking a fourteen (14) day precautionary self isolation measure in compliance with the Covid 19 protocols.”

He, however, maintained that the president tested negative to the virus as at yesterday when he was going into isolation. According to him, the president only chose to take the measure out of abundance of caution.

Also, earlier today, the former president, John Kufour and former first lady Theresa Kufour have also been taken out of their residence after some security officers in their house allegedly tested positive for the virus, the Starr News reported.

According to Covid 19 update in Ghana as at today Sunday, July 5, there are 20,085 confirmed cases, 14,870 recoveries/discharges, 5,093 active cases, 22 severe condition, 8 critical condition and 122 death.
