COVID-19: ACTU  commends Oloyede, urges candidates to abide by JAMB containment measures

The Joint Admissions and  Matriculation Board(JAMB)Anti corruption Transparency Unit (JAMB-ACTU)has commended the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, for the various measures he had put in place to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic. JAMB-ACTU also urged candidates and other stakeholders seeking the services of the Board to abide by all these containment measures and protocols on COVID-19 pandemic . A statement from the JAMB-ACTU Chairperson, Mrs. Munirat Abimbola Lawal, reads in part: “The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the Board commends the Registrar for the various laudable initiatives that have been put in place in line with the global practices to curb the spread of COVID-19.” According to her, some of the initiatives which readily come to mind include the Ticketing Platform,  Appointment Booking Platform, One-Time Password and the installation of pedal handwashing machines in all the offices.  All these, she said would go a long way in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic in our immediate community and the country at large thereby ensuring the safety of staff, candidates and other clients.

The ACTU Chairperson also stressed the need for all Nigerians to keep safe stating that the war on the virus is a collective one that must be won. She  further charged the general public to avail themselves of the opportunities created by the various COVID-19inspired initiatives and access all the services of the Board without hindrance. She added that these measures were in line with the Federal Government’s  determination to sustain the tempo of activities aimed at facilitating all protocols on ease of doing business in the country while safeguarding lives and property.

In another development, the JAMB Registrar has lauded the impressive performance of the Sanitation , Horticulture and Environmental(SHE), a Unit under the General Services Department. He disclosed that the unit was not only committed to ridding the National Headquarters of the Board of filth but also provided landscaping services.

According to the latest edition of  JAMBulletin made available to The Shield Online by JAMB Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Prof Oloyede expressed satisfaction with level of professionalism displayed by SHE whenever its services are required. He added that this was evident by its commitment to ensuring the highest level of hygiene in the Board’s premises  especially during lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Prof. Oloyede also commended the prompt response of staff of SHE to distress calls each time they are called upon to keep the environment clean. He particularly expressed his delight at the proactiveness of the body which saw all the drainages cleared and flowers neatly trimmed which invariably enhances the aesthetics of the premises.

The Registrar urged SHE staff not to rest on their oars but to always strive to uphold the ideals of the body. He assured SHE of the readiness of the Board to provide necessary tools for its staff to render world-class service in the field of environmental sanitation and hygiene.
