Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala, has made history as the first African female player to win the UEFA Women’s Champions league.

The 26-year-old was introduced in the 71st minute as Barcelona Women’s team finally won their first Champions League trophy on Sunday night, May 16, in Sweden.

The Spanish club hammered Chelsea women’s team 4-0 in the final match played at the empty Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg.

The four-time African women player of the year was close to winning the UEFA Women Champions League Two years ago but failed at the last hurdle as Leon handed Barca a 4-1 thrashing at the Groupama Arena in Budapest.

Oshoala scored Barcelona’s consolation goal that night.

But it’s victory at last for the Super Falcon’s striker whose contribution to Barcelona’s triumph includes four goals in eight matches.
